Concussion Management

FLYERS ELITE CONCUSSION MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

Philadelphia Flyers Elite, through its partnership with Virtua Health, has developed a concussion management program for all of our youth hockey players.  This concussion management program includes education for the parents, coaches and players involved with the club, as well as pre-season baseline neurocognitive testing for all players ages 11-years-old and above, all in an effort to optimally manage concussions during the season in a proactive manner. This program provides Philadelphia Flyers Elite the benefit of testing all of its players as well as to have Virtua doctors deliver concussion awareness and management education to all of its’ families.

All Philadelphia Flyers Elite Peewee, Bantam & Midget players will have the opportunity to take the “ImPACT” neurocognitive test, which is utilized for the purpose of providing a baseline for an athlete to return to play following a head injury. The test is typically administered by Sports Medicine doctors at Virtua during Training Camp in August, or when made available can be taken online in the privacy of each player’s home.
